Uri Blayer is
an Israeli artist currently living in Hawaii. He was born in
Ramat-Gan, Israel in 1971. He is a 1989 graduate of Telma-Yalin
Art School, Givataim, Israel. Following art school he lived
and painted in the Negev Desert, Israel for 6 years. From 1996
to 1999 he lived in Brooklyn, New York and studied under Professor
Lennart Anderson at Brooklyn College and at the Art Student
League N. Y. C.
Drawn to Hawaii by photographs of Maui's
Haleakala Volcano terrain, as well as its reputation with the
world's surfing community, Uri settled on the island of Maui
in 1999. He currently resides on Kauai.
He has been represented by Village Galleries
since shortly after his arrival to Hawaii. He is included in
many private and corportate collections in Hawaii including
Bank of Hawaii (Honolulu and Kauai), State Foundation on Culture
and the Arts (Art in Public Places Program) and the Hawaii State
Museum. Since moving to Hawaii, he has returned to New York
and Israel for numerous group and solo shows and is included
in private collections worldwide.
