Artist's Statement…
Why do I paint? . . . Simply. . . because painting makes me happy!

In the late 60's and early 70's as my five children grew up, I proceeded through a college art program, emerging with an MA in Printmaking. Again I had a series of great teachers, as I forgot about painting and earned a pretty good living making original prints, and later mixed media in color. From 1981 to 1991, I spent 10 summers as an artist in the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts. Then my husband and I made the move to Maui and I began to paint again, at first in watercolors, later in oil, joining the Plein Air Painters of Maui about 5 years ago. Along the way I have been greatly helped by my friend, George Allan and by plein air teacher Kevin MacPherson.

I have been painting since the mid 1950's in Roger Armstrong's summer classes. Later, in the 50's and 60's, as I spent more summers in Laguna Beach, I attended Rex Brandt's nearby art school. We walked all over the South Coast, plein air painting our way from Balboa to Laguna Beach.
