Represented exclusively on maui by Village
Galleries....Beverly Fotheringham is
a dedicated and prolific artist in all forms of water media;
watercolor, acrylic, mixed media and miniatures.
Her fascination with Hawaiian subject matter
has led to her creation of a body of work that captures the
special essence of the island environment. Beverly discovered
the unique quality of light and color that is native to Maui
and Kauai on her first visit several years ago, and has been
painting island subject matter ever since. Her work captures
the special feeling of the islands' warm and relaxing breezes.
Her works investigated the luminous effects of backlit florals
and nature scenes that glow warmly across a rich pallet of color.
She has also turned her creative insight
onto the myriad effects inherent in reflections on water and
other reflective surfaces. Beverly works from a core interest
in representational images, but often treats realism with a
unique perspective and point of view that crosses the boundary
between realism and abstraction.
Beverly has earned numerous awards in juried
shows and competitions. she is a signature member of the National
Watercolor Society and the Northwest Watercolor Society and
has been earning a strong reputation in both national and international
competitions.
She is also a signature member of the International
Society of Acrylic Painters. Beverly earned her BA degree in fine
arts from California State University at Fullerton. She has also
studied with numerous leading artists and teachers, and received
two years of formal training at the Art Center College of Design
in Los Angeles.
