Pizzo Glass works • Village Galleries Maui

Ray and Diane Pizzo work as glass artists from their home and studio on the island of Maui. This is an inspirational place for many artists who believe that if people are made aware of our island's beautiful ocean life then they will take better care of them. The Pizzo's are trying to increase this awareness.

Diane began her art training as a child, attending art classes and being under the supervision of a family of artists. After receiving her Masters, she was fortunate to study for a short time under the trailblazer of glass art in America, Maurice Heaton, a Fellow of The American Craft Council.

In 1984, Diane met Ray and it was a match made in glass heaven. Diane taught Ray the glass basics and then there was no stopping him. His love for experimentation helped to develop their own approach to fusion glass. They believe that by combining their need to experiment, with the knowledge of technique, something new can evolve that pushes the boundaries of their craft.

For Ray and Diane, enjoying their work is really the main point. As they work together new ideas and options are constantly developing.

Recently featured on HGTV’s Modern Masters, Ray and Diane Pizzo have been creating glass art on Maui for the past twenty plus years. The island influence is apparent in their fused glass art, from sets of dinnerware to custom residential creations, including bathroom sinks and windows.

Their unique method of making each art glass piece begins with clear float glass using no pre-colored glass. Every piece is a one-of-a-kind functional glass art creation for a lifetime of enjoyment. Pizzo Glass Art is currently featured ar Village Galleries in Lahaina.
