Robbie Laird: The continuing source of inspiration for Robbie’s work is a lifetime of interest in the cycles and connections in nature. She sometimes uses the unique qualities of flowing transparent watercolor alone to create mysterious rhythmic works, while in other pieces she incorporates a variety of other watermedia with watercolor in specific layering and textural effects to achieve the desired sense of intrigue and interest.

After completing her Masters degree in Art Education, Robbie became a Fine Arts curriculum consultant, giving workshops for teachers throughout California, the United States, and abroad. She has been on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Watercolor Society for several years as Director of Workshops, Director of Exhibits, and as President of SDWS. She has taught classes for the University of California, the Athenaeum School of the Arts, La Jolla, California; and has taught painting workshops in various locations throughout the US. She teaches how to utilize the strength of design elements to enhance what you want your painting to express, and to set your creativity free while painting.
